Stockhorn

Breathe the fresh mountain air from the Stockhorn

  • Erlenbach im Simmental
The remarkable and imposing Stockhorn is regarded as a landmark of the region. From the 2’190-meter-high station at the top of the summit you can enjoy the view of Lake Thun and the breathtaking Bernese mountain landscape. Those who find the view itself is not enough, can find many other attractions on the Stockhorn.

Your journey to the Stockhorn starts in Erlenbach in Simmental. From here the Stockhorn cableway leads in two sections to the summit of the 2’190-meters-high significant mountain. Below the middle station Chrindi is the Hinterstockensee, which is inviting to do some fishing and to relax.

Once you arrive at the mountain station through a mysterious grotto you will reach the sensational lookout platform in the steep rock face of the Stockhorn north-face. The suspended lookout platform is not for the faint-hearted. Under the glass bottom it goes down over 400 meters into the depths!

The panorama which the Stockhorn has to offer is unique: In the southerly direction you can admire the High Alps with the Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau and the Blümlisalp, towards the north you have the beautiful view of the Mittelland and Jura.

Whether leisurely walks or experienced «mountain goat»: The Stockhorn has something for all types of hikers. Would you like to learn something new on your hike? Those who love to fish in untouched nature reach the Oberstockensee within 40 minutes walking. To fish in both of the lakes it is necessary to get a fishing allowance.
By the way: If the layer of ice is thick enough you can also do ice-fishing.

Scooter bikes
