Once built as a private summer residence to the gateway of the Alps, the Schadau Castle in Thun is now a hotel and culinary establishment which is accessible to everyone.

1348 is when the Schadau in Thun was first mentioned in writing. The splendid building was commissioned by the Neuenburger banker, Denis Alfred de Rougement. Built as a private summer residence the Schadau Castle after various mixed usage has been managed since 2019 purely as a hotel and culinary establishment. The large garden terrace is equally popular with locals and guests: Here in the afternoon you can enjoy over coffee and cake the beautiful view of Lake Thun.
 
Belonging to the castle is a splendid, extensive garden area, which is not just during the summer months a popular place to stroll.
 
Also for brides and grooms Schadau Castle is popular: In front of the castle many couples have wed outdoors with the impressive views of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
